Whenever
I read an interview with Doris 'Doz' Brendel
or a review of her music there seems to be the inevitable reference to
her father. Yes it's true that he is Alfred Brendel,
considered by many to be the #1 classical pianist of his generation and
her mother was a world famous opera singer, sculptress and photographer,
however I see this from another perspective.

Born into such a creative and talented family the influences are inevitable but so are the expectations and pressures. We are all individuals and with such a classically saturated childhood it was unsurprising that Doz grew up with her own mind and chosen direction. She started performing solo at 12 and soon began the prolific gigging, touring and writing campaign that she maintains to this day. Despite a schedule that would exhaust even the most road-hardened rocker, she still found time to finish her English Degree and then become a qualified accountant. She has released 5 solo albums and re-released the critically acclaimed and long awaited 'Violet Hour' album " The Fire Sermon". |

Her latest album, written after the death of her mum, is entitled "The Last Adventure" and features an eclectic mix of styles from Celtic Rock, to Cockney Punk, to Neo Progressive and driving Indie rhythms. The hugely successful first single "Latest Fantasy" has already been voted 'Top Banana' on several Euro Polls and has been followed by an equally addictive EP featuring dance tracks mixed by the industry's finest! Personally I'm torn betweeen the hypnotic Flageolet she plays on "Latest Fantasy" and the 80s vibes of the dance focussed EP that takes me back to those 'Heady-Hacienda days'. I guess my vote would have to go to the Neo-Prog track "Why are you still here?", which Doz belts out with such venom that grown men tremble like wall-flowers at her intensity! For my part the answer is easy, Im still here because the music and the talent are just that captivating. |

Fiercely
independent and driven, Doz records and releases
her own material through her own record label 'Sky
Rocket', which also provides full record label services to musicians
and bands. Doz can offer invaluable advice
and experience earned through thousands of gigs and years as a professional
musician and writer. She has recently found time in her prolific schedule
to write the music for and record "Emily's
Song", the proceeds of which go to the 'Reunite
Charity Campaign'. This aims to support the families of abducted
children and to reunite them. In addition to film score commissions "About
Her" Doz is currently writing her next album while preparing
for a British and European tour.
